From 2001 to 2010, HSWO has been actively engaged in various HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention programs across Nepal, targeting vulnerable populations such as migrant workers, transport workers, and young adolescents. Key initiatives included comprehensive HIV/AIDS and STI education, outreach programs, and treatment services through ICC centers, with support from international organizations like UNDP, DFID, and ILO. These efforts were complemented by cultural programs, including street dramas and music concerts, to spread awareness among the general public, especially youths, about HIV/AIDS prevention and safe practices.

Collaborations and Community Mobilization for Awareness
HSWO also played a significant role in collaborating with local governments and NGOs to mobilize communities in the fight against HIV/AIDS. National rallies on World AIDS Day, HIV/AIDS message campaigns on vehicle license plates, and school education programs were conducted to raise public awareness. In addition, HSWO implemented special empowerment projects for People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), such as a condom packaging initiative that aimed to reduce stigma and provide sustainable income for affected individuals.
Empowering Vulnerable Groups
Through these initiatives, HSWO has made substantial contributions to reducing the vulnerability of high-risk groups, promoting safer sexual practices, and empowering marginalized communities. By involving local NGOs, peer educators, and PLWHA in awareness efforts, HSWO continues to promote long-term behavioral changes and ensure a sustained impact in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Nepal.
