Introduction of Himalayan Social Welfare Organization (HSWO):

Himalayan Social Welfare Organization (HSWO) is a non-profit making, non-governmental organization established to contribute to the sustainable development of Nepal. The organization was formally registered on 05/10/2056 B.S. (1999) under the district Administration office Lalitpur and, the organization was also registered under social welfare council with registration number of 10098.

Health, education, sanitation and awareness creation regarding hygienic issues

Mission:

Coordinate with Multi sector approach to empower to sustain their life and give right to live by mobilizing target group.

Objective of the Organization:

The objectives of the organization are to promote the following at local, national and international levels:

  • Health, education, sanitation and awareness creation regarding hygienic issues.
  • Sensitize community members about HIV and AIDS and STIs and contribute in networking and campaign against STIs; HIV and AIDS.
  • Training of human resources required for sustainable development of the community members.
  • Income Generation Program for rural and urban poor communities.
  • Environmental and conservation program.

key outcomes

Major Programs has implemented by HSWO

Migration project funded by ILO/Nepal

On 2010 to 2011, HSWO has successfully accomplished the safe migration project funded by ILO/Nepal. The objective of the program was to make proper documentation while going foreign country to make safe life to work.

HIV/AIDS/ BCI program and STI and VCT service

Feb 2006 to Oct 2010, HSWO has successfully accomplished the comprehensive package for migrant workers and their family on HIV/AIDS/ BCI program and STI and VCT service from ICC center funded by UNDP/DFID at Dhanusha and Parsa districts of Nepal. The objective of the program was to aware on HIV/AIDS/STI to Migrant Workers and Their Families and give treatment on STI VCT through ICC center by mobilizing peer eductors.

BREAK THE SILENCE AGAINST HIV/AIDS

On 2001, HSWO has supported to rock band and organized concerts “BREAK THE SILENCE AGAINST HIV/AIDS” targeted to young adolescents at the national fairgrounds BHIKUTI MANDAP to aware young adolescences on HIV/AIDS from music.
